Student Die-In Demonstration
September 20 @ 1:00 pm-2:15 pm
The Manitoba Youth for Climate Action is commencing our September Week of Actions with a dramatic, visual demonstration on the steps of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on September 20th. In response to the impending threat to our lives posed by climate change, we are staging a ‘die-in’, a protest where students will simultaneously collapse and pretend to be dead.
Our mantra at this event is “1.5 to stay alive,” a reference to the global warming limits declared by the IPCC necessary to avoid catastrophe. This local demonstration will be attended by concerned Manitoban youth, while we are acting in solidarity with other die-ins across Canada to all ‘die’ at the exact same moment coast to coast.
This event is wheelchair accessible.
