Enjoy fun games, crafts, songs and a healthy snack while learning more about the outdoors and discover the animals and plants that call Birds Hill Provincial Park their home.
Nature Detectives programs are designed for preschool children ages 3-5 and their caregivers. Younger siblings welcome.
Location: Interpretive Workshop (at the end of Nimowin Road).

Burrowing Under – Wednesday, January 16
Explore the mysterious world of burrowing animals and find out who’s hiding under the ground. Look for signs of the pukak layer where some animals live during the winter while walking on part of Nimowin Trail.
Tip Top Tails – Wednesday, February 13
Whose tail is this? Find out why animals have different types of tails and what they use them for. Make your own tail and then take it for a walk on part of Nimowin Trail as we look for tracks and tails in the snow.
What’s the Buzz – Wednesday, March 13
Discover the buzzing world of insects and why they’re so important to our world. Learn how to identify an insect and then come buzzing along on part of Nimowin Trail to look for insect homes in our forest.
Bees & Blooms – Wednesday, April 17
How does a flower grow fruit? Investigate where our fruit comes from and how animals play an important role in helping fruit to grow. After a fruity snack, enjoy a guided walk on part of Nimowin Trail as we look for flowers and natural fruits of the forest.
