The Indigenous Student Centre (ISC) is excited to invite all our relations to attend the Elders and Traditional Peoples Gathering on October 13 and 14. This gathering will be held at the University of Manitoba, which is located on Treaty 1 territory, home of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene peoples and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. The purpose of this gathering is to bring Elders and Traditional Peoples from many different nations together to offer teachings and share knowledge. This year’s theme is “Seven Generations Strong” to show how the success of our youth is tied to the wisdom and strength of our Elders and Knowledge Keepers. This year, we are excited to partner with Indigenous Engagement and Communications as they launch the EleV Partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.

Sessions on Day 1 include a youth panel, art sessions with Kristin Flattery, Storytelling with Grandfather Wakita Wanbdi and Medicine Teachings by Leslie Spillett and more.

Sessions on Day 2 include Métis Ways of Life teachings by Elder Norman Meade, Red Dress teachings by Gerri-Lee Pangman and Tipi and Skirt teachings by Elder Wanda Murdock.
